How Gagzoo works

From zero to a shareable Gagzoo in about a minute.

1. Install Gagzoo

Gagzoo is a free extension for Google Chrome on a computer (Windows, Mac, Linux or Chromebook). Add it from the Chrome Web Store

2. Open the editor on any YouTube video

Go to any video on YouTube. You'll see a small Gagzoo button on the video saying Make it funny. Click it, or click the Gagzoo icon in Chrome's toolbar and choose Create a Gagzoo.

The editor opens as a drawer under the video. The video keeps playing from YouTube; Gagzoo never downloads or changes it.

3. Add the funny stuff

Pick a tab and tap anything to put it on the video at the current moment:

Tip: Pause first to place things precisely. You can also add while the video plays: each tap lands where the action is, a split second back to match your reaction. Stuck for ideas? Press Surprise! for a challenge.

4. Move, resize and time it

5. Watch it back

Press Show! to watch your Gagzoo the way your friends will see it. Every sticker, sound and effect is synced to the video, even when you skip around.

6. Save and share

7. What your friends see

Some YouTube creators turn off playing their videos outside YouTube. Those videos can't play on the share page; open them on YouTube with Gagzoo instead.

8. Watch, like and remix

With Gagzoo installed, videos that have Gagzoos show a counter on the player. Open it to see This video (everyone's published Gagzoos) and My Gagzoos (yours, including drafts). You can like, comment, report, and Remix someone's Gagzoo into your own copy; the original creator stays credited.

The editor speaks 11 languages. Change it in the editor's settings (⚙).
